scarcity

is defined as a condition of limited resources, where society does not have sufficient resources to produce enough to fulfill subjective wants.

The backbone of human civilization

till now. Internet does not operate with scarcity. It operates with abundance.
If throughout history the main economic motor was the ability to acquire as many scarce resources as possible, in the internet world the main economic motor will be the ability to harness as efficiently as possible the overwhelming abundance of everything.
If gold is everywhere, it does not matter how much you have, it matters what you do with it and how you do it. Because gold, both in scarce quantities and in abundance has value in itself: it's a very good metal to use.
Simple, no?
